ARRL East Bay Section

East Bay Section Manager Position Open

Posted by af6aq on October 26th, 2017

I chose not to run for reelection as Section Manager of the East Bay Section for the term that begins January 1, 2018. There were no other candidates, so the position will become vacant at the end of 2017. ARRL will repost the request for nominating petitions for EB SM in the January and February editions of QST. I believe that the nomination period will end sometime in April and the election, if needed, will occur in May. The newly elected SM will take office on July 1 and serve for the remaining 18 months of the regular two-year term. I will continue to serve as acting Section Manager during the interim until a replacement is either elected or appointed.

I have asked my Section staff appointees to continue to serve as acting appointees until my replacement is identified to provide for a smooth transition. I am very thankful for the support and service my staff have provided. There is much that goes on behind the scenes that your section leadership does. I could not have done all this alone for the past 12 years. I appreciate your supportive comments but please do not forget my (your) East Bay Section staff: Chris Tate N6WM, John Primus AF6RJ, Jack Burris K6JEB, Jim Tittle K6SOE, John Rabold KS6M, and Kristen McIntyre K6WX. Please thank them for their service to the Amateur Radio community when you see them.

Most EB Section appointments will expire at the end of my official term December 31, 2017. Some will be cancelled before for administrative reasons. Those affected by this will receive a letter from me officially canceling their appointment.

Thank all of you for your past support and well wishes. I can only hope that you will provide the same support for my replacement. I will see you around as I will have more time to participate in Public Service events. I will be back for Pacificon 2018 as a “civilian” ham at which time I will be free to attend the presentations I have missed over the past years.
