“We as amateur radio operators are gathering and exchanging emergency information on the following frequencies. Please kindly keep these frequencies clear.

  • 21.200MHz +/-10kHz

Emergency Centre of Activity frequencies for Japan

In the aftermath of the massive Japan quake, @ARRL_EMCOMM (http://twitter NULL.com/#!/ARRL_EMCOMM) tweeted at about 0650 PST today, “The IARU Region III (Japan) Emergency Centre of Activity frequencies are 3600, 7110, 7130, 14230, 14300, 18160, 21230, and 21360 kHz.”

New Zealand emergency communications frequencies

Arnie Coro, CO2KK, International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Region II Area C Emergency Coordinator, advises users of the 40 and 20 meters bands to “be aware of possible (earthquake) emergency communications traffic taking place in and around the affected areas of New Zealand’s South Island, where Christchurch is located.”

According to Warren Harris, ZL2AJ, of Hastings, NZ, designated EmComm frequencies used by AREC NZ on HF for the Christchurch Earthquake are:

3.900 MHz USB
5.320 MHz USB
7.100 MHz USB

New East Bay Section DXCC Card Checker

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Croskey, AH0U, as DXCC card checker for the East Bay section. The best way to reach Bruce for card checking is 925-623-4388 or AH0U@arrl.net. In the future, he will be developing a schedule to visit local clubs on a regular basis to do card checking.
